Parent Participation Week 2025

We’re thrilled to launch a brand-new tradition at our studio: Parent Participation Week, happening December 15-20!

During this special week, we’re inviting one grown-up per dancer — whether that’s a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or other loved one — to step into the studio and experience dance class from your dancer’s point of view.

What is Parent Participation Week?

Parent Participation Week is when we open our classroom doors to YOU and allow your child to become your teacher and partner! You’ll join them in class, follow along with warm-ups and steps, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how our classes work.

Who Can Participate?

Any adult who plays a meaningful role in your dancer’s life is welcome — not just parents! We ask that only one grown-up join per dancer to keep classes spacious. No siblings or additional children in the classroom, please.

How Do I Sign-up?

Please sign-up here to participate by Dec 10 so that our teachers have time to plan their lessons.

What Should I Wear?

Dress comfortably and be ready to move! Activewear is great, and socks or bare feet will work too.

What Should I Expect?

  • You’ll be actively participating, not observing — so get ready to move, stretch, and maybe even sweat a little!

  • Your dancer will be so proud to show you what they’ve learned. Let them lead, and follow their cues.

  • You might feel a little silly — and that’s okay! This week is about fun, bonding, and celebrating your dancer’s hard work.

Why it Matters

Parent Participation Week is more than just a peek into class — it’s a celebration of your dancer’s growth, a chance to support their passion, and a highlight of the season for you both. It’s also an amazing opportunity to meet other parents and get to know the other families here at the JSOD.

This week isn’t just for our youngest dancers — it’s a meaningful experience for teens too! When you step into the studio with your teenager, you’ll see firsthand the discipline, focus, and artistry they bring to every class.

You’ll walk away with a deeper appreciation for their commitment — and they’ll walk away knowing you’re proud to be part of their journey.

We can’t wait to welcome you into the classroom. Let’s make this first Parent Participation Week one to remember!
